It has been a stretch. I’ve been on maternity leave these last several months. Not too long go, in fact 8 weeks ago, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl – her name is Abigail. My own story continues. I am deeply grateful.
Now, I am getting back in to my Story Work. First up: performing in the moving and poignant play Ruined by Lynn Nottage. The setting is the Democratic Republic of the Congo where, to this day, rape and sexual violence is used as a weapon of war. Soldiers “ruin” women in order to tear their villages apart and pillage the mineral rich land. I play one such ruined woman, Salima, and have the privilege of bringing her heart wrenching Story to life. It is a story of horror and of strength, I am honored to be involved. Directed by Angela Konrad of Dark Glass Theatre Company and presenting in the intimate space of Pacific Theatre, this show will grip the heart.
We are in the first week of rehearsals. The work has been exhilarating. If you are anywhere near Vancouver, BC, this is a show you must see.
The show runs January 26th to Feb 17th.
